Security forces kill at least three militants in DIK attack
PESHAWAR: At least three militants were killed by security forces after a suicide bomber blew himself up in Dera Ismail Khan on Saturday.
Around seven to eight militants armed with guns and wearing army uniforms launched an attack on a police station in the area, sources said.
Three attackers have been killed, said DIG Khyber Pakhtunkwa.
According to reports, one policeman was killed and four injured while at least one militant was also injured in the incident.
Gun battle between the army and militants was underway till last reports. The army has taken position against the militants in the area.
Security forces have cordonned off the area while emergency has been declared in the District Headquarter Hospital.
However, the DPO remained safe in the attack and efforts are underway to take him out of the area in an armoured vehicle.
