bilourRAWALPINDI: Federal Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour on Thursday said that services of all contract and daily wage employees of Pakistan Railways serving for nine months would be regularized.

Speaking as chief guest at a function organized by Pakistan Railway Employees Union (PREM) he said that efforts are being made to improve performance and efficiency of the railways and to make it a profitable organization.

"We will have to make efforts to eliminate corrupt elements from the railways," he said. The Minister said Railway employees from General Manager to laborers, all are owners of the Pakistan Railways as their future is linked with the future of the Railways.

Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said, charter of demand presented by Railway Union is right and "I support their demands. I am with the union and railway employees but at this stage, railways financial condition is known to everyone and demands of the employees cannot be fulfilled."

He said the nation tough time as "we are facing terrorism and extremism. Heroin and Kalashnikov culture came to Pakistan due to wrong policies of the dictators.

Innocent people are being killed and the perpetrators of heinous crimes are claiming that they are on right path." The Minister said that Awami National Party (ANP) has decided in a meeting that the party will try to play a role in present circumstances and our efforts will be for an amicable resolution of issues.

Ghulam Ahmed Bilour said that ANP will stand with the government and PPP will not be left in lurch as ANP is its coalition partner.    He said that ANP would continue to back the government and fully oppose any undemocratic move in the country. The democratic set up is vital for stability in Pakistan.
