Users complain of iPhone X camera lens cracking for unknown reason

Some iPhone X users have reported experiencing unusual cracks on their camera lens without even dropping the phone.

Reports from different iPhone X users claim that they are facing a weird problem where there are cracks on the camera lens although they didn’t even drop the phone. Moreover, Apple won’t even repair them under warranty and instead are charging for a complete device replacement.

First reported by 9to5Mac, the issue was pointed out on Apple forums and on Reddit dating back as far as January and building up more over recent months. If the user is facing the issue and wishes to repair it, Apple won’t repair under warranty. Instead, the customer would have to pay $99 if they have AppleCare, or full $549 if only they have standard warranty.

One user wrote, “Bought iPhone X right before Christmas and found a crack on the rear camera glass last night. The phone has been used with cover all the time and no drop or accident. Went to Apple Store this morning and was told to pay a whopping $549 to have it fixed, our phone is a 256GB iPhone X. Are you kidding me Apple? This obviously is a design/material flaw! We are so very disappointed.”

Apple might copy significant feature of Galaxy Note for iPhone X Plus

People are not sure what is causing the camera lens cracks. They claim to have never dropped their devices and even use it with cases since the time of purchase. Some people blame it on extreme weather conditions, when it’s extreme cold or hot and humid temperature, reported Daily Mail.

Another user wrote, “I was outside in extremely cold weather and noticed that my rear camera lens had cracked. Took it to Apple and was told I still need to pay $99 to have this repaired. Has anyone else had this issue?”

However, others also commented that they live in places where they do not have cold weather, yet they are facing similar issues.

This is not the first time Apple’s iPhone X is going through issues. Apple acknowledged earlier this month of having problems with the phone’s Face ID feature.
