ZURICH: Switzerland's finance minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf said on Wednesday that an expert would review the competencies of the government and the bank council for overseeing the Swiss National Bank.
Swiss National Bank (SNB) Chairman Philipp Hildebrand resigned with immediate effect on Monday, saying he could not prove he had been unaware of a currency trade made by his wife and wanted to protect the integrity of the central bank.
The Swiss National Bank's independence is enshrined in the Swiss constitution.
