BAGHDAD: Iraq has issued a tender to buy a minimum of 30,000 tonnes of rice from any origin, the trade ministry said in a statement published on its website on Wednesday.
Offers must be submitted by Jan. 22 and must be valid until Jan. 26, the statement said.
Iraq is one of the world's largest importers of wheat and rice, much of which goes to supply a massive public food ration programme.
Volumes in Iraq's grain tenders are regarded as nominal and the country frequently buys more than the tender volumes.
