While blockchain is becoming the latest trend, as a company has decided to integrate blockchain into smartphone and has released specs of first ever blockchain smartphone.

A Switzerland-based company working in the field of blockchain networks, Sirin Labs have officially revealed the specifications of the first of its kind blockchain smartphone that it calls Finney saying that the phone will feature some flagship-level specs and will be released later this year.

The firm believes that this blockchain smartphone will be a ‘cold storage wallet’ for users’ cryptocurrencies. Since the phone will be enabled with blockchain technology, it cannot be hacked and as a result gives a safer backdrop for keeping track of financial transactions. The company claims that the smartphone is entirely ‘tamper-proof’ and contains a physical security switch for wallet protection.

New ‘dumb phone’ all set to curb our smartphone addiction

Hindustan Times wrote, the cold storage wallet is not connected to the internet that is said to make it secure from hackers trying to access the Bitcoin or any other cyrptocurrencies stored in the wallet. Other security features also include biometrics and lock pattern.

Talking about the specs, Finney will feature 6GB RAM with 128GB storage and a 3,000mAh battery life and will run on Android 8.1 Oreo-based custom operating system, Sirin OS. Also, the phone will have a 12MP rear camera with laser autofocus whereas, the front camera will be an 8MP with an 85-degree angle. Moreover, the phone will also feature a fingerprint sensor, Bluetooth, cold storage wallet, water resistance and more, as per Android Police.

“Our team has been working vigorously to make sure that the first blockchain smartphone is cutting edge in all technical aspects. Our collaboration with FIH (Foxconn International Holdings) ensures that we will be offering state-of-the-art design with device architecture that will enable true security and user-friendly blockchain experience,” expressed Co-CEO Zvika Landau.

The Finney blockchain smartphone will be shipped globally and s priced at $999 and available for pre-orders.
