For the first time in the history of Pakistan, a transgender is all set to contest for the National Assembly from Okara, Punjab.

Nayyab Ali is an active member of All Pakistan Transgender Election Network in Punjab and also a member of the provincial voter committee of Election Commission of Pakistan, local media reported.

She has started her campaign on social media as she hopes to win NA-141 as an independent candidate. Nayyab is famous in Okara for her community and social work.

Expressing concern over security threats, Nayyab wants government's help in providing her  security during campaign rallies. “I only want the government to provide me security during campaign rallies as it is going to be a major challenge to compete against influential candidates,” the Express Tribune quoted her.

Sharing her plans, she said that if she won the seat she will make all-out efforts to establish a medical university in Okara. She also claims to resolve water, sanitation, education, health, and unemployment issues.
