PESHAWAR: The high level committee constituted to probe the death of three children in Peshawar in its report rejected the notion that the deaths were caused by polio vaccination.

The report also rejected the accusation about the use of expired polio vaccine in Peshawar district and stated that the same could be used till 2020.

It merits a mention here that three children had died in Shaheen Muslim Town Peshawar where the locals of the area had accused health department officials for administering expired polio vaccine to children in the drive.

Taking notice of the matter, Secretary Health Abid Majid had constituted a probe committee comprising medical experts, representatives of district administration and elected reps of the area. The committee was tasked to present its report within 48 hours.

Noted children specialist, Qayum Orakzai was the head of the investigating committee.
