PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested an accused for his alleged involvement in corruption and defrauding people.

Amjad Ali Khan, owner of Zohaib Gardan, Mardan has been accused of cheating the public at large and fraudulently collecting millions of rupees from innocent people in the name of fake investments of private housing schemes.

The accused had absconded to avoid inquiry proceeding by NAB after taking cognizance.

Accordingly reference amounting to Rs62.378 million has been already filed against the accused persons in the accountability court, which was under trial, the NAB spokesman said in a statement issued here on Thursday.

Giving details, the spokesperson said the accused Amjad Ali Khan along-with other co-accused persons enticed and motivated general public through attractive advertisements to invest their hard earned money in fraudulent housing scheme “Zohaib Garden” at Jail road Mardan, and Zohaib Commercial Complex in Mardan and Peshawar.

Due to attractive incentives, 105 innocent individuals invested in these projects. At the end the accused persons neither handed over possession to investors nor did they return the money.

The Accountability Court declared the accused person as proclaim offender. The Accountability Court granted 12 days physical remand into NAB custody.

The NAB advises affectees of the scams to approach Office of the Director General, National Accountability, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PDA Complex, Block – III, Phase – V, Hayatabad Peshawar for registering their claims during office hours.
