HONG KONG: Hong Kong shares closed down 0.80 percent on Wednesday as concerns over the eurozone debt crisis overshadowed upbeat economic data from the United States and Europe.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index shed 150.10 points to 18,727.31 on turnover of HK$42.57 billion ($5.48 billion).
Chinese shares closed down 1.37 percent, reversing early gains, on concerns over tight cash supply before China's Lunar New Year holiday later this month, dealers said.
The Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, fell 30.03 points to 2,169.39 on turnover of 40.6 billion yuan
