Uber driver blames navigation after car gets stuck on staircase

Last week had not been the best for Uber and seems like this week is no different, as an Uber driver drove down a pedestrian staircase and got stuck along the way in San Francisco on Monday.

Once again the ride-hailing company Uber managed to grab the limelight and this time it is due to one of the driver's driving skills. An Uber took a wrong turn and got stuck on the stairs for several minutes. The car was towed later on.

Business Insider quotes the San Francisco Police Department saying that the vehicle, a white Toyota Camry, got stuck in the afternoon. According to an employee at a store nearby, the vehicle was driven by a human and was not self-driven.

The driver told the publication that he was directed down the stairs by his navigation within the company’s application.

Two passengers were reportedly in the vehicle at the time of the accident. No injuries have been reported. The driver was apparently on his way to pick a third passenger for a shared pool ride.

The service has been in hot waters since a few weeks after one of the company’s self-driving cars was involved in a fatal crash in Arizona, resulting in ban of autonomous cars from the state.
