‘Monkey with a human face’ becomes social media sensation over its expressions

The video of a monkey in China with a human-like face took the internet by storm, making people wonder whether it is actually a human disguised as a monkey.

The maker of the video caught the puzzled and lost expression of the monkey, as it can be seen looking around its enclosure in the clip. While there is another monkey inside the enclosure, the panicky monkey with its opened mouth and puzzled expressions, looking around at the visitors, grabs the limelight.

The video surfaced on Weibo, a Chinese equivalent of Twitter, where it immediately caught the attention of the users who started sharing it with the hashtag 'monkey with a human face'. Since its upload on the site, the video has gained 1.3 million views.

Internet users started joking whether the keeper had dressed up as a monkey, while others were awed by its human-like expression. The new internet sensation is kept in Tianjin Zoological Gardens in the north-east China, Daily Mail reported.

Zheng Kaijie, visitor of the zoo, said that while he could not remember the primate's species the man-like monkey was an adult.

Few days ago, a similar video had surfaced of a gorilla in Philadelphia Zoo, who has an unusual way of walking unlike its brothers and sisters. Louis, an 18-year-old gorilla prefers to walk around on two legs rather than all four, reported CBS Los Angeles. The video shows Louis strutting around his enclosure.
