SC orders Rao Anwar’s arrest after he finally appears in court

Former Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwar, who was absconding in the Naqeebullah Mehsud's extra-judicial murder case, finally appeared before the Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday shortly after which the top court issued orders for his arrest.
The three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Saqib Nisar rejected Anwar's appeal to grant him a protective bail and ordered his arrest, local media reported. The bench has also ordered the formation of a new five-member Joint Investigation Team to probe the case.
When Anwar's counsel requested the SC to include agency officials in JIT the court dismissed his request and said that the bench will form its own JIT. The SC then ordered to unfreeze all bank accounts of Anwar which had been frozen by the State Bank of Pakistan (SPB) on the apex court's directives.
SC told Rao Anwar’s salary still being deposited in his account
The former SSP reached the court amid tight security. It is not yet known whether he was arrested or he showed up voluntarily. Anwar was wearing a surgical mask when he disembarked from the car and entered the court building.
On Monday, the CJP was informed by the governor of SBP Tariq Bajwa that Anwar was still receiving salary, which is being deposited in his bank accounts. The CJP remarked that those found facilitating Anwar will be answerable to SC and strict action would be taken against them.
