ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have foiled a terror bid and arrested six alleged terrorist including one suicide bomber during operation in Shehzad town police station jurisdiction.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Inspector General of Police Islamabad Bani Amin Khan said that Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Islamabad Police had launched an operation three days back near Zia Masjid in the area of Shehzad town police station and arrested six alleged terrorist including one suicide bomber.
He said that police was facing another challenge at the same time during this operation as people were protesting on Islamabad Expressway but credit of arresting terrorists goes to CID police which ensured successful operation within two hours only after getting the particular information.
The IGP said that suicide bomber has been identified as Waliullah who along with his six associates is in custody for further investigation.
He said that nabbed alleged terrorists had been involved in attacks on security forces in Swat. Meanwhile, he appreciated the efforts of Islamabad police and said, no terror incident occurred during current year owing to efficient policing.
"The major challenges before police were terrorism activities, car theft and dacoities but efficient policing has helped us to overcome all of them during this year," the IGP maintained.
He said that police have also recovered the vehicle of Dr. Rakhshanda which was snatched in an attempt to kidnap her son a few years ago. Her son was earlier recovered after police encounter and one of the kindnapper was killed besides arrest of his other accomplices.
