LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has replaced 501 conventional electricity meters with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters on federal and provincial government power connections, as part of its drive to modernise electricity metering and ensure transparent billing.

According to the LESCO authorities, the company has a total of 2,390 electricity connections belonging to federal and provincial government departments, including 586 federal government connections and 1,804 provincial government connections.

As of October 30, 2026, the LESCO has replaced 501 conventional meters with modern AMI meters, including 393 meters on federal government connections and 108 on provincial government connections. The replacement of the remaining conventional meters is also underway and will be completed soon, they added.

The LESCO Chief Executive Officer has directed the relevant officials to expedite the replacement process and ensure its early completion.

According to him, the modern AMI metering system would help improve monitoring of electricity consumption, enhance operational efficiency and ensure transparency in billing.
