KARACHI: Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Sakib Sadakat has said his country is keen to promote bilateral trade with Pakistan and further strengthen mutual ties.

He also assured that a proposal for one-year multiple-entry visas for Pakistani traders would be considered and that recommendations from the Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) would be given priority.

He said, “We encourage Pakistani businessmen to visit Bangladesh and participate in trade exhibitions. The Bangladesh Deputy High Commission would facilitate their visits and help arrange business-to-business (B2B) meetings with Bangladeshi traders.”

The Bangladesh envoy was speaking during a meeting with a PCDMA delegation led by its Chairman, Muhammad Saleem Mukati. The delegation included Senior Vice Chairman Shahid Bashir, Vice Chairman Muhammad Amir Bhatti, former chairmen Salim Valimuhammad and Mahmood Salam, and Waqar Ahmed.

PCDMA Chairman Saleem Mukati informed the Deputy High Commissioner that Pakistani traders in the chemicals sector already maintained substantial trade ties with Bangladesh.

He requested that the contact details of traders in the chemicals and dyes sectors be shared to help promote trade in these areas and increase the overall volume of bilateral trade between the two countries.

“Stronger business links between traders in the two countries would help boost bilateral trade and create further commercial opportunities,” he said.

The PCDMA delegation also highlighted the difficulties faced by Pakistani traders due to single-entry visas and requested the issuance of one-year multiple-entry visas.

They said such visas would enable traders to visit Bangladesh more easily, explore market opportunities and arrange business-to-business (B2B) meetings without repeated visa-related hurdles.

The delegation maintained that the proposed measure would boost exports and generate economic benefits for both Pakistan and Bangladesh.
