Utilities stocks lift Sri Lankan shares higher

Sri Lankan shares closed higher on Friday, led by utilities stocks.

The CSE All-Share index settled 0.41% higher at 20,316.91 points.

Dialog Axiata and Hatton National Bank were the biggest boost to the index, up 0.91% and 0.93%, respectively, on the day.

Trading volume on the index fell slightly to 70.1 million shares from 72.9 million shares in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover dipped to 1.05 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($3.18 million) from 2.74 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 166.8 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 1.04 billion rupees, the data showed.
