FAISALABAD: On the special directives of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) Engr Muhammad Aamer a comprehensive electricity conservation campaign has been launched across all districts of the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) region.

The campaign aims to encourage consumers to use electricity responsibly and efficiently while discouraging unnecessary consumption and wastage. In his connection, CEO FESCO Engr Muhammad Aamer said that conserving electricity was a national responsibility of every citizen and consumer. He said that if every consumer adopted even minor precautions in their daily routines significant savings in electricity could be achieved collectively.

He emphasized that every unit of electricity saved by consumers contributes to the conservation of national resources. The electricity units saved through responsible consumption can effectively help to meet the needs of other consumers, hospitals and other facilities where electricity is urgently required.

He further said that the objective of the energy conservation campaign was not to discourage consumers from using electricity but to encourage them to use it only when necessary and in an efficient manner. Reducing unnecessary electricity consumption would not only help meet the country’s power demand but could also lead to a considerable reduction in consumers’ electricity bills.

He appealed to electricity consumers to switch off unnecessary lights, fans and other electrical appliances and use electricity only when required. Consumers were also urged to make maximum use of natural sunlight during daytime hours wherever possible and avoid keeping unnecessary lights switched on.

He further advised consumers to replace conventional, high-consumption bulbs with energy-efficient LED lights. Electrical appliances should be completely switched off instead of being left on standby mode.

Consumers were particularly urged to avoid unnecessary electricity use during peak hours, especially from 6:00pm to 11:00pm in order to reduce pressure on the distribution system during periods of high demand. Similarly, agricultural consumers were advised to avoid operating tube wells during evening hours so that the additional burden on the electricity system could be reduced during peak demand periods. Consumers were also advised to operate electrical appliances in their homes, shops, offices and business strictly according to their sanctioned electricity load.

According to the FESCO spokesman if millions of consumers ensure savings of even a few units of electricity every day it could collectively result in a significant reduction in electricity demand. This would help ease pressure on the power distribution system and enable FESCO to ensure electricity supply to the maximum possible number of consumers.
