Urban upgrading drive: LDA DG reviews progress of development projects
LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has entered the final stretch of its major urban upgrading drive, with two flagship underground parking plazas nearing completion and extensive facelift initiatives underway across the city’s historic corridors.
In this connection, LDA DG Tahir Farooq chaired a meeting held here on Monday to review the progress of ongoing development projects. The meeting was attended by the Director (Architecture), the Director (Engineering), the Director (Traffic Engineering), and other relevant officials.
During the briefing, it was told in the meeting that the completion rates stand at 83 percent for the Nasir Bagh underground parking plaza and 81 percent for the Neela Gumbad underground parking plaza. Currently, work on electrification, painting, and flooring is progressing rapidly at both parking plazas.
Additionally, development efforts under the ‘Urban Regeneration’ initiative are ongoing along Outfall Road. Improvements have been made on one side of the road from Bhati Chowk to Urdu Bazaar, including facade upgrades, new footpaths, parking zones, and seating areas. The pilot project along the Inner Circular Road features decorative lighting, signage, U-turns, and other enhancements.
During the meeting, LDA DG Tahir Farooq directed that the finishing work on the underground parking plazas currently under construction be expedited.
