‘LCCI will take all possible steps for economic development’
LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) President Ali Hussam Asghar has said that the LCCI will take all possible measures to support the development of industry, trade and the economy, saying that strong government support and cooperation are essential to achieving these objectives.
He was speaking during a meeting with former mayor Lahore Khawaja Ahmad Hassan at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry.
Ali Hussam said the business community fully supports Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s “Suthra Punjab” vision and appreciated her efforts to improve cleanliness, governance and public services across the province.
The LCCI president while praising the chief minister’s efforts for maintaining peace and security said that stability and the rule of law are essential for economic development and attracting investment. He observed that Dubai’s transformation into a developed global business hub was also supported by an effective system of law and order and the rule of law.
“We are partners with the government in prosperity,” Ali Hussam said, adding that industrialists and traders are the backbone of the national economy and their contribution must be facilitated through a business-friendly policy environment.
He said the business community strongly supports policies that create a friendly, secure and facilitative environment for industrialists and traders instead of creating fear and uncertainty through an excessive FIR culture. He emphasised that businesses need confidence, stability and predictable policies to expand investment, production and employment.
Senior Vice President Sardar Usman Ghani appreciated the development initiatives being undertaken across Punjab, saying that the province is increasingly becoming a prominent face of Pakistan at the international level.
Vice President Khadim Hussain Chaudhry said that close cooperation between the government and the private sector can help accelerate economic activity, promote investment and strengthen industry and trade.
