ISLAMABAD: National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) hosted a delegation of Vice Chancellors, Pro-Vice Chancellors, senior Deans and statutory heads of public sector universities from AJK, GB, KP and the Rawalpindi region. The delegation was received by Pro-Rector (Academics), Dr Osman Hasan and Chief of Finance & Business Development, Rao Sabir Ali Khan.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on NUST’s academic ecosystem, research and innovation landscape, and key institutional initiatives. The participants also visited selected facilities including the National Science and Technology Park (NSTP) and the School of Interdisciplinary Engineering and Sciences (SINES), where they gained an overview of the University’s integrated approach to education, research and innovation.

The visit concluded with an interactive session with Rector NUST, Dr Muhammad Zahid Latif, who shared his perspective on the evolving role of universities in addressing national challenges through knowledge, innovation and responsible leadership. He emphasized that institutions of higher learning must not only provide quality education but also contribute meaningfully to society while instilling in students a strong sense of responsibility towards society and the nation.

Highlighting NUST’s institutional journey, Dr Zahid spoke about the University’s focus on strengthening governance through robust policy frameworks, consultative decision-making and strategic planning.

The session also featured an engaging exchange of ideas between the Rector and the visiting academic leaders. Participants discussed opportunities for greater collaboration in faculty and student exchanges, teaching and learning initiatives, interdisciplinary research and institutional partnerships. Rector expressed NUST’s commitment to supporting universities across Pakistan and welcomed continued engagement through collaborative initiatives facilitated by HEC.

The visit formed part of the leadership development programme on “Strategic Planning and Leadership Excellence,” organized by the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), HEC.
