Pakistan, China reaffirm strategic partnership with focus on AI, CPEC 2.0

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar Iran on Thursday held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Shanghai, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepening the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership and expanding cooperation in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), where the two leaders reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and discussed ways to strengthen collaboration across key economic and technology sectors.

Both sides stressed the importance of advancing high-quality development under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) 2.0, while enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, science and technology, the digital economy, and artificial intelligence.

Dar was accompanied by Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Adviser to the Punjab Chief Minister on Artificial Intelligence and Special Initiatives Ali Mustafa Dar, Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA) Chairman Bilal Bin Saqib, Additional Secretary (Asia Pacific) Dr. Syed Asad Ali Gillani, and Pakistan’s Chargé d’Affaires in Beijing Aizaz Khan.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the latest regional and global developments and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close coordination on issues of mutual interest.

According to an official statement, the meeting reinforced Pakistan-China strategic cooperation and reflected the two countries’ shared commitment to innovation-driven development and collaboration in emerging technologies.
