LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday paid tribute to the family of Burhan Wani, a prominent leader of the freedom movement in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), on the anniversary of his martyrdom.
In a message issued on the occasion, the chief minister said Burhan Wani remained a true hero of the people of IIOJK, adding that his sacrifice had demonstrated that every Kashmiri was inspired by the spirit of freedom and self-determination.
She said Pakistan would continue to raise the voice of the Kashmiri people and advocate their just cause at all international forums.
The CM Maryam Nawaz said the international community, including the United Nations, had a legal and moral responsibility to honour its commitments to the people of Jammu and Kashmir by ensuring the implementation of the relevant UN resolutions.
Praying for the people of Kashmir, the chief minister expressed the hope that the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir would soon achieve freedom.
