ISLAMABAD: The sisters of incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan on Tuesday warned that the party would announce its future course of action if they were not allowed to meet him.
Speaking to reporters at Factory Naka near Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan and Noreen Khanum said the party’s next strategy would be “strict and decisive,” adding that the public should remain prepared for the forthcoming steps.
They said that continuous denial of a meeting with Khan would compel them to unveil their plan of action, which they said would be implemented firmly.
Like the previous weeks, Khan sisters, Aleema Khan, Dr Uzma Khan, Noreen Khan, along with party leaders, including Batteries Gohar Khan, MNAs, MPAs, as well as workers, gathered near Adiala jail in anticipation of meeting the PTI founding chairman. However, neither family members nor members of the legal team were allowed to meet Khan.
Khan family members, leaders, and workers staged a sit-in after they were barred from moving forward toward Adiala jail. Party workers chanted slogans against the government and demanded the release of Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi. They also fault the mistreatment of the party’s founding chairman.
She further said that PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar had conveyed a message from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, saying that Noreen Niazi submit an application to the Adiala Jail superintendent seeking a meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan.
She said that we rejected the proposal, arguing that the jail administration was not preventing the meeting. “It is Mohsin Naqvi and the government that have blocked the meetings,” she alleged.
She further questioned the purpose of filing a fresh application when a court order already exists. “If we submit an application, what will happen to the Islamabad High Court’s order under which up to 18 people can meet Imran Khan every week? It appears they want to undermine that order,” she said.
Aleema Khan claimed that they were also told that only immediate family members of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi could meet them, a suggestion she described as unacceptable. “This is not acceptable to us at all,” she said.
She added that their foremost demand was proper medical treatment for Imran Khan. “If they want to facilitate meetings, they should first ensure Imran Khan receives medical treatment. That remains our primary demand,” she said.
