LAHORE: The Spot Rate Committee of the Karachi Cotton Association on Wednesday decreased the spot rate by Rs 500 per maund, bringing it down to Rs19,500 per maund by the close of trading.
Speaking to Business Recorder, cotton analyst Naseem Usman stated that the market remained brisk, with trading volume increasing despite the downward trend observed in the cotton market.
Usman further noted that cotton prices in Sindh currently range between Rs19,000 and Rs19,500 per maund, while Phutti in the province is trading between Rs8,800 and Rs9,300 per 40 kilograms. In Punjab, cotton rates stand between Rs19,500 and Rs20,000 per maund, with Phutti fetching between Rs9,500 and Rs10,000 per 40 kilograms.
In terms of regional trading activity across Sindh, 1,400 bales from Sanghar and 3,200 bales from Tando Adam were sold at prices ranging between Rs19,000 and Rs19,700 per maund, while 1,200 bales from Shahdadpur changed hands between Rs19,000 and Rs19,800 per maund. Additionally, 600 bales each from Hala and Nauabad were traded within the range of Rs19,000 to Rs19,500 per maund.
In Punjab, 600 bales from Khanewal were sold between Rs20,300 and Rs20,500 per maund, while 400 bales from Chichawatni fetched between Rs20,200 and Rs20,500 per maund. Meanwhile, 400 bales from Burewala were traded between Rs19,500 and Rs20,000 per maund, and 100 bales from Hasilpur were sold at Rs20,000 per maund.
