LAHORE: The Spot Rate Committee of the Karachi Cotton Association on Tuesday decreased the spot rate by Rs 800 per maund, closing it at Rs20,000 per maund, as bearish market sentiment gripped the cotton sector.
Cotton Analyst Naseem Usman told Business Recorder that cotton prices in Sindh currently range between Rs21,000 and Rs21,300 per maund, while Phutti in the province is trading between Rs 9,000 to Rs 9,800 per 40 kilograms. In Punjab, cotton rates stand between Rs22,300 and Rs22,500 per maund, with Phutti fetching between Rs9,500 to Rs10,500 per 40 kilograms.
On the trading activity front, 800 bales of Shahdad Pur were sold in between Rs 20,000 to Rs 20, 500 per maund, 1600 bales of Tando Adam were sold in between Rs 19,700 to Rs 20,300 per maund and 1000 bales of Sanghar were sold in between Rs 19,800 to Rs 20,300 per maund.
