LAHORE: Senior leaders of the Pakistan Peoples Party’s Central Punjab chapter have congratulated their party following a sweeping victory in the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly elections. Former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf called the win the result of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asifa Bhutto Zardari’s tireless efforts, saying the victory belongs not just to the party, but to every voter who dared to dream of progress and prosperity for the region.
General Secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza pledged that the PPP would honor the public mandate by launching a new era of development and securing long-awaited property rights for the region’s residents. Information Secretary Shahzad Saeed Cheema said voters had firmly rejected politics of hatred in favor of democracy and service, while Deputy Information Secretary Ahsan Rizvi went further, predicting that Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would become Pakistan’s next Prime Minister.
