LAHORE: Right-hand batter Saira Jabeen, who hails from mountainous valley of Chitral in Pakistan’s north, became the 60th player to represent Pakistan in the women’s T20 Internationals as she received her cap against Zimbabwe last month in Karachi and is also a member of Fatima Sana-led touring party for the upcoming ICC women’s T20 World Cup.
In the PCB Podcast, Saira reflected on her journey to Pakistan team from Chitral via Pakistan’s domestic cricket circuit and a summer spent in Australia playing club cricket.
Saira, who can also bowl handy seam ups off a decent run up, took only two innings across three T20Is to flaunt her batting talent as she struck an unbeaten 50 off 32 balls (8x4s) after walking in to bat at 58-1 in a 223-4 total for Pakistan.
She shed light on pursuing cricket as a profession, moving from Chitral to Peshawar and then Lahore for training, visiting Australia for a season of club cricket and receiving tremendous support from her family especially her father who wanted her to pursue medical as a profession.
