ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi on Thursday opted to make public the decisions of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) on all five (5) complaints filed against him.
The SJC in its meeting, held on 14-05-26, unanimously dismissed all the five complaints.
Mian Sibghatullah Shah, Advocate of the Peshawar High Court, filed the complaint wherein it was alleged that, in the year 2016, the Chief Justice of Pakistan, then Judge of the Peshawar High Court, did not adhere to merit in selection of Addl. Sessions Judges and thus committed misconduct. It was dismissed unanimously.
Amjad Hussain Durrani, Resident of Karachi in CPLA No. 1432-K/2020 alleged that he filed a complaint, which was dismissed on 12.01.2022 by a bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, of which the Chief Justice of Pakistan was a member, without affording fair opportunity of hearing to the petitioner, which amounted to misconduct. The Council unanimously dismissed it.
Ajmal Mahmood, Advocate of the Lahore High Court in his complaint alleged that vide Office Order dated 03.12.2024 issued by the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the previously imposed ban restricting his entry into the Supreme Court and its Branch Registries was further extended by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, which amounted to misconduct. The Council unanimously dismissed it.
Kamran Khan, resident of Karachi, alleged that the Supreme Judicial Council dismissed a complaint submitted by him unlawfully and without affording him an opportunity of hearing, which amounted to misconduct. The Council unanimously dismissed the complaint.
Muhammad Asif Masood, Resident of Tehsil Burewala, District Vehari in his complaint alleged that decision of Civil Appeal No. 290/2017, rendered by a bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan on 28.03.2023, of which the Chief Justice of Pakistan was a member, was against the law and facts, which amounted to misconduct. The Council, however, unanimously dismissed it.
