Diplomatic efforts: PM assures Qatar of Pakistan’s continued support

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday assured Qatar that Pakistan would continue to support diplomatic efforts aimed at ensuring security and stability in the Middle East.

In a telephone conversation with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, who initiated the call, both leaders agreed to maintain close communication and coordination on matters of mutual interest.

A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said the leaders engaged in a warm and cordial exchange of views on the current regional situation, reaffirming their commitment to facilitating ongoing efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region.

Recalling his recent visit to Doha on April 16, Sharif said his meeting with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar, and other Qatari officials had been instrumental in forging a consensus on peace initiatives.

Sharif added that the people of Pakistan were looking forward to a visit by the Amir of Qatar at a mutually convenient date, noting that the trip would further strengthen and deepen bilateral relations.

The Qatari prime minister expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s continued role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
