ISLAMABAD: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has categorically dismissed international media reports claiming that Tehran refused to engage in Pakistan-mediated talks with the United States in Islamabad.

Addressing the speculation through his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, Araghchi stressed that US media outlets had misrepresented Iran’s position. He expressed deep gratitude for Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts, clarifying that Iran had never declined an invitation to meet in Islamabad.

“What we care about are the terms of a conclusive and lasting end to the illegal war imposed on us,” Araghchi stated, emphasizing substance over mere participation. Signifying the strength of bilateral relations, the Iranian foreign minister concluded his post with the phrase “Pakistan Zindabad” in Urdu.

Pakistan’s leadership also warmly responded to Iran’s clarification of the rumours circulating in the international media. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, while responding to the post, expressed his appreciation for the clarity provided by his Iranian counterpart, referring to Araghchi as his “dear brother.”

Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Tahir Andrabi underscored the importance of accurate reporting, noting that speculation serves no constructive purpose. He urged observers to rely strictly on official statements and verified media readouts to ensure clarity.
