ISLAMABAD: Leader of the Opposition in the Senate Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Monday, demanded that Pakistan withdraw the United States President Donald Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize, and from the Board of Peace (BoP) membership for Gaza, as the Upper House of the Parliament prayed for the assassinated Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Speaking at the Senate session, Abbas slammed the US and Israel over Khamenei’s assassination. “One person has occupied America who believes that his wishes are the law— Israel unleashes new forms of tyranny but the US tends to cover up every tyranny of Israel,” he said.
“Our supreme leader has been martyred— the one who had the unflinching following of millions of faithful,” he said. The opposition leader said he wants to move a resolution in the House pressing the demand that the Government of Pakistan withdraw Trump’s Nobel Peace Prize nomination, and BoP membership for Gaza.
However, Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani adjourned the Senate session till today (Tuesday).
Earlier, during the Senate proceedings, the chairman Senate suspended the House’s regular agenda, and asked the opposition leader to lead the prayer for Khamenei, who was assassinated in Iran in the US-Israeli air strikes on Saturday. The House prayed for the departed soul.
