LAHORE: Under a special recovery campaign, the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has accelerated joint operations across various subdivisions, removing several electricity meters during targeted enforcement actions, and registering cases against the responsible persons.
According to LESCO authorities, strict inspections were carried out in the Wahga Subdivision, including the Taqi Pura Feeder, Bhaini, and Paddey villages, as part of the anti-theft drive. As a result, 12 meters were removed, and approximately 2,000 meters of illegal direct supply cable were confiscated. Further legal proceedings have been initiated in accordance with the law.
In a separate operation in Bhano Chak, a tube well installed at Dera (residence/farm) of a man identified as Anwar was found running on a direct illegal connection. The unauthorized supply was disconnected on the spot, and the meter, cable, and 11kV jumper were taken into custody. A formal case has been registered at the relevant police station, and a detection bill has been issued as per rules, the authorities said.
Meanwhile, the Shalimar Subdivision launched a recovery drive against defaulters in DHA where several domestic connections were disconnected over heavy outstanding dues. During the operation, a total of PKR 500,000 was recovered on the spot from two major defaulters, although millions of rupees in outstanding payments remain pending.
