KARACHI: A comprehensive and informative awareness seminar titled “How Diabetic Patients Can Fast; In Light of Medical Science and Quran & Hadith” was held at the seminar hall of the Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases (KIHD) on Sunday.

The event was attended by medical experts, and prominent social figures.

Renowned diabetes specialist Dr. Naseeruddin Shaheen, while addressing the seminar, stated that diabetic patients can fast safely with proper medical advice, balanced nutrition, regular blood sugar monitoring, and correct use of medications. He emphasized that each patient’s condition is unique, so consulting a doctor before fasting is essential.

Dr Shaheen outlined key guidelines, including precautions during Sehri and Iftar, adjusting insulin and medication timings, adequate water intake, and continuous blood sugar monitoring. He stressed that awareness and caution are the keys to keeping diabetic patients healthy during Ramadan.

The event was graced by Dr. Ratna Dewan, Deputy Director SPDP/DEPD, senior journalist and President of Karachi Union of Journalists (KUJ) Tahir Hasan Khan, journalist Humaira Motala, and other distinguished guests.
