KARACHI: The Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) expresses serious concern over the reported detention of Khurram Iqbal, journalist and producer of HUM News Islamabad Bureau, who was allegedly picked up by individuals in plain clothes from a residence in Lahore. At the time of issuing this statement, no authority has officially confirmed his arrest or custody.
PBA strongly condemns the detention of a journalist without due process of law and transparency.
The Association urges the Government of Pakistan to immediately instruct the relevant authorities to ensure his safe and prompt recovery. PBA also reiterates its consistent demand for ensuring the safety and security of journalists and media workers so that they may perform their professional responsibilities without fear or intimidation.
