Peace, promotion of mutual respect: Ashrafi for implementation of agreed code of conduct
FAISALABAD: Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council and Special Representative of the Prime Minister/Coordinator National Peace Message Committee Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, along with eminent scholars of all schools of thought, addressed a joint press conference regarding the Tarlai tragedy in Rawalpindi and recent incidents of terrorism in Balochistan.
He said that “every conspiracy against the peace, unity and stability of Pakistan will be foiled and terrorist elements will not be allowed to harm the religious and social harmony of the country under any circumstances.”
He said that “from the platform of the National Peace Message Committee, scholars of all faiths have offered joint prayers in Peshawar, Lahore and Islamabad, demonstrating the unity of the Ummah and national solidarity. This initiative is clear evidence that all schools of thought in Pakistan are united and speak with one voice against terrorism, sectarianism and hatred.”
Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi clearly announced that any individual or group that violates the Pakistan Code of Conduct will neither be supported nor will it receive any kind of religious or social backing. He said that full implementation of the agreed national code of conduct is essential for the establishment of peace and promotion of mutual respect in the country.
Referring to the fatwa issued by the Sunnis prohibiting the insulting of sacred places, he said that “respect for the sacred places of all schools of thought is necessary and obligatory. Mutual respect, tolerance and forbearance are the real strength of Pakistan and through this we can combat all kinds of conspiracies.”
Ashrafi said that terrorist elements are enemies of both Islam and Pakistan, adding such elements have no connection with any religion, sect or school of thought. He called the attackers of the Nushki incident as seditionists and Khawarij and demanded that the strictest action be taken against them so that those who spread unrest in the country could be eradicated.
Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the martyrdom of innocent worshippers and children in the Tarlai tragedy in Balochistan and Rawalpindi, he said that these incidents have wounded the hearts of the entire nation.
He prayed for the elevation of the martyrs’ ranks and for patience for their families, and assured the government of a relief package and full support for the families of the martyrs.
