FAISALABAD: Industries are encouraged to consume maximum gas as per government policy while no connection has been severed due to the use of excessive and unauthorised gas load, said Imran Safdar Virk, General Manager, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) Faisalabad.

Addressing the business community in Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce Industry (FCCI), he appreciated the gesture of close coordination between SNGPL and the private sector and said that the local nature problems are resolved on the spot while the other issues are forwarded to the head office. Regarding excessive use of gas, he said that the company had issued notices but not even a single connection has been disconnected on this ground.

Responding to a question, he said that all new and old applications are granted RLNG connections. He further said that Faisalabad is on top to file costlier but fast track gas connections. He assured to resolve the issue of gas load shedding and curtailment.

He requested industrialists to submit applications against load shedding of gas so that their genuine issues could be resolved.

Earlier Farooq Yousaf Sheikh, President FCCI said that planned gas supply is imperative to enhance production and exports.

He complained that gas prices are uncompetitive in Pakistan as compared to other regional countries. He stressed the need to formulate policies in consultation with the private sector to cut down the cost of doing business.

He said that SNGPL is not only issuing notices but also demanding additional bank or cash guarantee for the overuse of approved loads of gas.
