ISLAMABAD: Like other parts of the country, rallies and special programmes were held in the capital city on Thursday to reaffirm support for the just struggle of the Kashmiri people for their inalienable right to self-determination.

A one-minute silence was observed nationwide at 10:00am to pay homage to the martyrs of the Kashmir freedom movement. A rally led by Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Engineer Amir Muqam was taken out from China Chowk to D-Chowk.The rally was attended by people from all walks of life, including women and children. Hurriyat representatives, political figures, and a large number of citizens also participated.Participants carried banners and placards expressing solidarity with the Kashmiri people and called for a peaceful resolution of the longstanding Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.

Addressing the rally, Engineer Amir Muqam stressed the need for sustained international attention on the Kashmir issue and urged the global community to facilitate a peaceful settlement in line with UN commitments. He reiterated Pakistan’s continued moral, political, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people.

Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed annually on February 5 across Pakistan to express solidarity with Kashmiris and to highlight the unresolved status of the disputed region.

Meanwhile, Interior Mohsin Naqvi has expressed complete solidarity with the people of Kashmir on Kashmir Solidarity Day.

In his special message, he stated that every child of Pakistan stands with the oppressed Kashmiri people with unwavering resolve. He said that he salutes the long struggle and unparalleled sacrifices of the Kashmiri people.

?The people of Indian-occupied Kashmir have been writing a history of steadfast resistance against Indian occupation and oppression for the past seven decades. Despite oppression, siege, and an atmosphere of fear, the courage and spirit of freedom of the Kashmiri people remain alive even today. The world’s silence in the face of the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people has become a serious moral failure.

Naqvi said that the resolutions passed by the United Nations still affirm the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. Without a resolution of the Kashmir dispute, the dream of lasting peace in the region cannot become a reality. Pakistan raises—and will continue to raise—a strong voice for the legitimate rights of the Kashmiri people at every international forum.
