KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to provide a subsidy on urea fertilizer to verified farmers under the Sindh Wheat Growers Support Programme, starting Monday, February 2, 2026.
Sindh Minister for Agriculture, Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar, stated that the government will begin disbursing the subsidy from February 2. He added that the Agriculture Department has released more than 12 billion rupees to Sindh Bank for the second phase of the program. A list of 212,171 verified farmers has also been sent to Sindh Bank.
The Minister explained that verified wheat farmers will be able to receive 8,000 rupees per acre as a urea subsidy from Sindh Bank and other relevant banks.
He further noted that, on the special instructions of Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the subsidy amount is being provided to wheat growers. Verified farmers can collect the funds from Sindh Bank and other designated banks starting Monday.
Sardar Muhammad Bux Mahar also mentioned that in the first phase of the programme, farmers had already been given a subsidy on DAP fertilizer.
