KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah has said that the Sindh government has made the health sector its top priority and is providing modern and quality healthcare facilities free of cost to the public.

He said that expensive treatments including cardiac diseases, cancer care, lung transplant, bypass surgery and angioplasty are being provided free of charge in the province, which is a rare example not only in Pakistan but across the world.

He was addressing the 55th Annual Medical Symposium at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC). The symposium was attended by Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Member of National Assembly Sharmila Farooqui, Members of Sindh Assembly Asif Musa and Haider Umrani, senior doctors, renowned surgeons, medical experts and healthcare professionals from across the country.

The provincial minister said that people from all over Sindh as well as other parts of the country are benefiting from the healthcare initiatives of the Sindh government and added that continuous efforts are being made to upgrade public hospitals by providing modern medical equipment, medicines and trained medical staff to ensure improved patient care.

Nasir Hussain Shah said that annual medical symposiums play a vital role in promoting medical research, innovation and the exchange of professional knowledge, enabling doctors to discuss modern treatment methods and emerging challenges in the medical field, ultimately benefiting patients.

He stressed that the provincial government is always ready to implement the recommendations and proposals of senior doctors and surgeons to further strengthen the healthcare system.

Highlighting the vision of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the provincial minister said that the Sindh government is committed to providing free healthcare facilities to the public without any discrimination of colour, caste or creed.
