LAHORE: Deputy Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Sohail Nasir on Wednesday said that coordinated efforts and a robust enforcement strategy have enabled NAB to recover a substantial volume of illegally occupied state land across Punjab.
He disclosed this while presiding over a high-level meeting jointly chaired with Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, during which officials were briefed on the progress of land retrieval operations. According to the briefing, a consolidated 15,667,577 kanals of state land have been recovered, mutated in favour of the government or identified for resumption, with an estimated financial value of Rs 4.37 trillion.
The meeting resolved that all retrieved land would be formally restored to government ownership and utilised in the larger public interest. Participants also agreed to intensify legal action against land grabbers, ensure continuous institutional vigilance and strengthen mechanisms for transparent land record management.
The NAB Lahore office conducted a comprehensive review of measures undertaken to retrieve illegally occupied state land across the province, assessed progress achieved so far and deliberated on the future course of action.
Sohail Nasir conveyed the appreciation of the Chairman NAB to the Chief Secretary Punjab and Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR) for their collaboration in safeguarding state assets. He reiterated that illegal occupation of government land would not be tolerated under any circumstances, adding that recognition of NAB’s performance further reinforced its resolve to continue these initiatives with renewed commitment.
All participants commended NAB’s performance and reaffirmed their collective resolve to eliminate illegal land occupation through sustained and coordinated action.
The meeting was attended by Nabeel Javed, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Syed Ehtisham Qadir, Prosecutor General Accountability NAB, Mirza Faran Baig, Director General NAB Lahore, Muhammad Amjad Pervaiz, Advocate General Punjab, Member Colonies BOR, Amjad Majeed Aulakh, DG (Operations) NAB, Asim Lodhi, DG NAB Multan, and commissioners of Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Sargodha and Bahawalpur, along with other senior officers.
