KARACHI: The Sindh government has decided to take strict action against corruption complaints received against various major departments across the province.

In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh’s Minister for Anti-Corruption Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar attended by Anti-Corruption Chairman Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah and Director General Anti-Corruption Imtiaz Ali Abro.

During the meeting, the annual performance report of the Anti-Corruption Department and detailed briefings on corruption complaints against different departments was presented. Key decisions were made, approving strict and immediate action on these complaints.

It was informed in the briefing that between January 1 and December 31, 2025, a total of 28 meetings of Anti-Corruption Committees One, Two, and Three were held, in which 536 cases and 328 open inquiries were included.

During these meetings, 23 re-inquiries were conducted, 15 cases were closed, 103 cases were referred to relevant departments, 43 cases were deferred, and 24 FIRs were approved.

DG Anti-Corruption Imtiaz Ali Abro stated that a total of 13,603 corruption complaints were received against 22 different departments across Sindh.

These included 1,022 against SBCA, 408 against KDA, 1,623 against Local Government, 2,598 against Revenue, 841 against Education, 1,211 against Police, 736 against Works & Services, 595 against Health, 344 against Public Health, 255 against Food Department, 216 against Forest, and 619 against Irrigation Department.

According to Anti-Corruption spokesperson statistics, during 2025, 9,423 cases were verified, while a total of 18,288 cases are under verification and 6,835 cases have been disposed of. The briefing highlighted that the complaint resolution rate was 11 percent in 2023, 24 percent in 2024, and 37.37 percent in 2025.

The spokesperson further stated that regarding Anti-Corruption court and field activities, 45 new cases were received across Sindh, 812 cases were sent to courts, 2 individuals were convicted, 2 trap operations were conducted, and 22 surprise visits were carried out. Addressing the meeting, Minister Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar directed that immediate and impartial action should be taken on corruption complaints received against officers of various departments. He emphasized that maintaining public trust is the foremost responsibility of every officer, and in every case, uninterrupted and transparent action must be ensured.
