LWMC intensifies anti-smog drive

Published Updated

LAHORE: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has ramped up its anti-smog drive to protect citizens from the adverse effects of smog. Under the guidance of CEO Babar Sahib Din, the daily water sprinkling process at key city entrances and exits has been intensified. The initiative also includes an accelerated schedule of roadside scraping, water sprinkling, and mechanical sweeping throughout Lahore.

Mechanical sweeping and scraping operations are underway on major roads to control fugitive dust. Special instructions have been issued to continue intermittent water sprinkling in areas with high Air Quality Index (AQI) levels. These activities are taking place along prominent roads such as Mall Road, Jail Road, Gulberg, Ferozepur Road, Canal Road, Shimla Pahari, Press Club, Egerton Road, Kashmir Road, and Queen Mary Road.

The scraping process is being carried out on Multan Road, Bhekewal Mor, Punjab University, Queen Mary Road, Gol Bagh, Shad Bagh, McLeod Road, and Allama Iqbal Road. Scraping teams are also actively working on GT Road, Ferozepur Road, Kacha Jail Road, Madar-e-Millat Road, and Raiwind Road.

Meanwhile, mechanical sweeping continues on Pine Avenue, Ada Plot, Raiwind Road, and Khayaban-e-Ferdowsi. CEO Babar Sahib Din emphasized that the scraping process will be completed in phases across all towns of Lahore.
