KARACHI: The 39-day World Culture Festival-2025 continues to shine with colours, music, and cultural diversity.
The twelfth day of the festival began with the children’s theatre play “The Devil with the Three Golden Hairs”, presented by the Eurythmy WM Stage Group (UK) and directed by Maren Stott from the United Kingdom.
The story depicted a poor boy whose destiny, foretold at birth, promised great fortune and marriage to the king’s daughter. Despite the king’s repeated attempts to change fate, destiny ultimately prevailed.
The brave boy’s journey through life’s trials was beautifully portrayed through a rich blend of colour, movement, music, and humour. The performance received immense appreciation from both children and adults, with the audience applauding enthusiastically throughout.
Under the segment “Eastern European Focus”, three films were screened, highlighting compelling stories from Eastern Europe. From Poland, filmmaker Sebastian Kwidzinski presented the short emotional drama “Mother”, based on themes of domestic violence and redemption, which moved the audience to tears.
The documentary “Nihikéyah (Our Land)”, a joint production of Belarus, Lithuania, and the USA , directed by Varfalamey Kuraga and Quintin Schomaker, explored the story of a young family affected by forced displacement and coal mining in their homeland. From Hungary, director Przemek Mlynczyk showcased the musical documentary “Concert for Omega”, focusing on fans organizing a special concert for a legendary Hungarian rock band.
The evening concluded with a mesmerising jazz performance by the acclaimed German band Eva Klesse Quartet, which won the audience’s hearts with its soulful, energetic music. Renowned Pakistani musicians Ahsan Bari and Arman Rahim joined the quartet Evgeny Ring, Philip Frischkorn, Marc Muellbauer, and Eva Klesse in a collaborative act that added brilliance to the musical night.
The audience gave a standing ovation, applauding the artists for their outstanding performance and celebrating a night of cultural harmony and world-class jazz.
