KARACHI: Hiroshi Kawamura, CEO of Pak Suzuki, revealed that the company has begun exporting vehicles to Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

Speaking at an inauguration of the new Suzuki Vendor Cluster Area on the other day, he announced that the company has begun exporting vehicles to Bangladesh and Afghanistan.

This move, what he said, showcases the quality and competitiveness of Pakistani-made vehicles in the international market.

Kawamura said that Pak Suzuki has been exporting vehicles and auto parts since 1997, including software and motorcycle accessories to Japan.

The company also celebrated the production of its 2.5 millionth vehicle in Pakistan, a milestone attributed to employee dedication, supplier and dealer support, favourable government policies, and customer trust.

Meanwhile, Minister for Industries & Production, Rana Tanveer Hussain, inaugurated a new Suzuki Vendor Cluster Area. This initiative aims to expand Pak Suzuki’s network of local suppliers, enhancing efficiency and reducing costs through localized supply chain management.

Addressing industry challenges, Kawamura called for stricter enforcement against the misuse of import schemes for used cars and emphasized the need to overcome barriers to achieving export targets under the given export policy.

Government officials present at the event praised Pak Suzuki’s contributions to Pakistan’s automotive sector. Khuda Bukhsh, CEO of the Engineering Development Board, highlighted the company’s success in localizing around 70% of its vehicle content. Saif Anjum, Secretary Industries, noted Pak Suzuki’s impressive annual production capacity of 160,000 vehicles and its diverse product range.

Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain commended Pak Suzuki’s achievements, particularly in enhancing exports and reaching the 2.5 million vehicle production milestone. He emphasized the company’s role in job creation, economic growth, and technology transfer over four decades.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the automotive industry through policy alignment and export promotion, Minister said.
