The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 was not all about Samsung, as Huawei too released some amazing technologies including 5G enabled chips and a keyboard with a pop-up webcam.

Huawei introduced its MateBook X Pro that can be counted as one of the most striking laptops along with its first ever 5G enabled chips.

Competing with the latest smartphones, the laptop too comes in with very thin bezels and a powerful Dolby Atmos audio system. Being thin and light, what’s unique about this laptop is that it has a webcam hidden inside its keyboard.

Huawei’s Mate 10 Pro can now drive cars

Because the laptop has thin bezels with 91% screen-to-body ratio, there is not much space for a webcam on the top of the screen, thus Huawei solved the issue by disguising it as a laptop key. The camera has been camouflaged with the keyboard button and is placed between the F6 and F7 keys. When the user wants to use it, the webcam can pop up and can easily shut down when the user doesn’t need it, and can also be beneficial to tackle privacy concerns.

Apart from the camera, the laptop comes with a fingerprint reader, 3K touchscreen, self-adjusting backlight, and water-resistant design. Huawei said that MateBook X Pro will start at about $1,850 when it’s released, reported Ars Technica.

Moreover, the Chinese manufacturer also announced its first 5G chips for mobile devices. The Huawei Balong 5G01 is the first one for 5G networks and can download data at 2.3Gbps. According to the company, the chip is the world’s first commercial chipset that meets 5G standards.

Huawei’s consumer business’ CEO, Richard Yu declared that it aims to launch a 5G smartphone with the new chipset by the second half of the year. Yu also asserted that Huawei will not license its Balong 5G01 chipset to its rival device makers such as Qualcomm or Intel, according to CNET.
