KARACHI: Administrator Karachi Iftikhar Ali Shallwani on Friday directed Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) to remove encroachments around Mehmoodabad nullah. He said this during his visit to Mehmoodabad nullah. Concerned KMC officials were also present on the occasion. He said a comprehensive mechanism is being devised for cleanliness of storm water drains and restoring them into their original positions for smooth drainage of water.
"Settlements around the drains are also under threat in case of over flowing of water during heavy rains. The encroachers should mend their way as no one would be allowed to trouble the people," he added.
The Administrator said that all drains including Mehmoodabad nullah are main way of storm water drainage and it is necessary to remove all hurdles from them. The Administrator also appealed to the people of adjacent areas to cooperate with KMC and not to throw garbage in the drains. He asked the people to dump garbage on designated sites from where it could be lifted.
