Pakistan has reported 1,123 coronavirus cases, its highest single-day rise since July 26.

In the last 24 hours, 27,953 tests were conducted across the nation, taking the total to 4,486,843. Currently, there are 707 active cases out of which 59 are critical cases. In the last 24 hours, 461 people also recovered from COVID-19, taking the nationwide tally to 315,016.

So far, Sindh has reported 146,331 cases, Punjab 104,554, KP 39,649 and Balochistan has recorded 15,954 infections. Similarly, Islamabad has reported 20,089 cases, Azad Kashmir 4,237, and Gilgit-Baltistan has confirmed 4,279 cases.

Coronavirus also claimed 12 more lives in the past 24 hours. Pakistan has lost 6,835 people to coronavirus.

As the second coronavirus wave hits the country, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) has made it mandatory for everyone to wear masks in public places. NCOC has also directed the authorities concerned to ensure enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures.

Meanwhile, section 144 has been imposed in Islamabad for two months. Deputy Commissioner Hamza Shafqaat said that anyone found not wearing a mask will be arrested.
