Following Sindh's decision not to reopen secondary schools next week, Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood said on Saturday that any hasty decision to close schools will destroy education.

In a tweet today, the minister said that the closure of all educational institutions for six months due to coronavirus deeply affected the students. The decision to reopen schools was taken with great care by the federal government, the minister said.

He warned that any hasty decision to close will destroy education. "Learning loss is immense and can take years to recover. While health is a priority, this factor must b kept in mind," he tweeted.

Since educational institutions reopened on Tuesday across the country, at least 35 have been closed due to their failure of following SOPs.

On Friday, in a press conference, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani announced the provincial government's decision to delay the reopening of secondary schools scheduled for Monday, by a week.
