CHICAGO: Delta Air Lines will avoid involuntary furloughs for frontline employees except for pilots on Oct. 1, thanks to strong demand for voluntary programs and reduced work hours, Chief Executive Ed Bastian said in a memo to employees on Tuesday.

Delta has now "effectively managed our staffing between now and the start of peak summer 2021 travel," Bastian said in the memo, which was reviewed by Reuters.
